ABSTRACT

This chapter works through the interaction between the travel writer and the author’s editor to show how the critical and creative relationship is built. Trust is maintained by attempting to sensitively guide the writer and their text to address the original aims through effective feedback. First, though, it establishes evaluation criteria that may be used to assess a literary travel writer’s work, either for themselves or in the context of a taught course with a marker or an external examiner. This provides the opportunity to present a range of travel writing from learners taught during the production of this book.
