ABSTRACT
This chapter briefly describes six areas of interest introduced in the book which will have implications for the future of the tourism industry and which are also fruitful areas of enquiry for doctoral research in travel writing. These include space informatics and the ubiquity of online mapping; journaling technologies; user-generated content in the travel industry; environmental ethics and posthumanism; futures in higher-level education of writers; building knowledge management platforms for cooperation between public, locals, stakeholders and regional governments.
