ABSTRACT
Convergence of research on a given topic is the alignment of results of multiple studies with various methods and samples. Scientific consensus is an agreement on a conclusion based on the convergence of evidence. Literature reviews are one method for establishing convergence and consensus in the scientific community. Each type of literature review (traditional, systematic, and meta-analysis) has advantages and disadvantages, and so serve a different purpose.
