Two of the most significant arguments against physicalism are the knowledge argument (Chapter 6) and the conceivability argument (Chapter 7). Some attribute their force to ignorance about either the nature of consciousness or the nature of the physical world, or both. This chapter explores Daniel Stoljar’s version of that response, which compares our situation to that of imaginary slug philosophers who make analogous mistakes.
