ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the ways of capturing special educational needs and disability (SEND) provision and considers how one can demonstrate its impact. Capturing impact is far easier when people have a record of the anticipated impact and or starting point. Capturing the overall impact of SEND provision at a strategic level can be more challenging, although if similar methods are applied this can be resolved in the same way. By ensuring that the purpose and anticipated impact of SEND provision is defined, we will be able to evaluate the actual impact. It is this process of evaluation that is essential in demonstrating the effectiveness of the provision. So often, Special educational needs coordinators and special educational needs Practitioners, alongside teachers and teaching assistants, will record individual learner information regarding what intervention was offered and the individual learner progress.
