ABSTRACT

This chapter begins by arguing for the use of a digital calendar over its paper counterpart. At the heart of this argument is the change in which information arrives and the ease afforded by a digital calendar. Readers enjoy a brief history of the digital calendar. “The Baileys’ Story” introduces the concept of shared calendars. The point is for readers to see the need for digital calendars and have instructions for setting up their own shared calendars. The chapter argues in favor of scheduling events through calendar invitations rather than traditional email messages. Automated Schedulers are discussed as a means of reducing back-and-forth communication. The “Why Don’t They Teach That in School?” highlights the use of digital calendars with students. “Next Steps” provides specific calls to action, beginning with the individual and proceeding to how that person can influence implementation of a digital calendar with others.
