ABSTRACT

The first half of the chapter addresses a process for getting the email inbox empty each day. The process emphasizes classifying each email message into one of six categories and handling it appropriately based on its classification. “Savannah’s Out of-Control Email” illustrates the problem and provides specific strategies. The chapter uses Gmail as its example, but those strategies are universally applicable. The second half of the chapter focuses on Gmail specifically with a section entitled “Favorite Gmail Tricks.” Each idea makes email easier to compose or easier to handle for those on the receiving end. In a section called “Do Unto Others,” the reader learns specific options for communicating with large numbers of people, such as all parents within a school.
