ABSTRACT

This chapter identifies three distinct elements of workflow: “Trap,” “Organize,” and “Do.” First, “trap” items. The reader sees a partial list of the many places where actionable information shows up and the need to funnel it all into one place. The digital task list serves as that place. The reader learns how to trap information in the digital task list. Next, the reader learns how to take the random information and organize it into an executable plan. Emphasis is given to “batching” tasks, breaking projects into small pieces, constructing a “Master List,” and delegation. “Sheldon’s Story Revisited” illustrates the transformation resulting from good use of a digital task list. “Why Don’t They Teach That in School?” is the penultimate section of the chapter. It takes the concepts presented to this point in the book and relates them to the day-to-day life of the student. As with other chapters, this one concludes with suggestions for “Next Steps” to implement the concepts.
