ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that information is only as good as one’s ability to find it when needed. An important concept is the distinction between “digital documents” and “digital notes.” As with other chapters, this one looks at circumstances from the past and the procedures developed to handle them. It then shows how circumstances have changed and procedures need to change accordingly. “Jack’s First National Conference” paints a picture of how one school leader uses Evernote to trap and organize information while at an event. This story engages the reader’s interest in developing a good system of digital notes. The chapter uses Evernote as an example while mentioning other available options. Readers see how to get started with Evernote and are provided with specific suggestions for initial notebooks and see specific examples of the types of information they could store related to both their personal and professional lives.
