ABSTRACT

First, this section presents the features of this book that are not found in other books on a similar subject. The book presents: (1) how to produce an analysis, from its basic principles to the formal aspects of a work of textual analysis (definitions, parts, and stages of the analysis, the structure, argumentation, presentation of opinion, use of citations, etc.); (2) most of the aspects that can be analyzed in a literary text (about 30 of these: themes, actions, characters, rhythm, etc.); (3) most of the approaches that can be used to analyze these aspects (about 50 approaches: literary history, thematics, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, semiotics, etc.). Second, this section presents the overall approach of the book, which is one of systematicity. The systematist is not satisfied to describe things as they are commonly described, but rather as they could be, or even should be described. Third, this section summarizes the content of all the chapters of the book.
