ABSTRACT

This chapter tells the story of the daily leisure activities in the city. There were many cafés both Europeans and Arab, and several famous hotel primarily the Palace Hotel, the King David Hotel, and YMCA. All aimed to change Jerusalem tourism scene. The King David Hotel was famous during the war years as the centre for Jerusalem's elite as well as royal visitors and journalists. Many pensions and small hotels served the local and regional tourism. The military War time tourism of Allied soldiers also encouraged Arab and Jewish political-cultural efforts to present to the visitors their historical-political points of view.
