Introduction

The introduction provides an overview of the core arguments of the book. It introduces the main contributions and findings of the book. This research aims to explore the EU’s capacity to lead the institutionalisation of other regional organisations, in particular, it looks at the institutionalisation of the ASEAN disaster management policy and instruments. The research goes beyond the role played by the EU. It also looks at the role played by other actors in the analysis and by proposing an original analytical framework based on four categories: the leader, the reference, the sponsor and the implementer. The introduction also presents the whole structure of the book.
