ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors continue their discussion of law enforcement from the last chapter by discussing antitrust. Antitrust law includes statutes and court decisions interpreting those laws, making antitrust legal advice important to business. So, they put law enforcing and then law interpreting together in this chapter. They begin with a discussion of the major antitrust laws, followed by mergers and how they can violate antitrust laws. The third section describes how the government enforces antitrust laws. The authors proceed to discuss the judicial system through which cases are tried—law determination. As in prior chapters, the authors discuss nonmarket and market strategies and ethics, with a final section presenting an in-depth discussion of judiciary strategies that business uses to meet its objectives.
