ABSTRACT

What does it mean to be in life at the edge of the future, and what are our obligations going forward? In this short concluding chapter, I sum up life as it goes forward, feeling trust, anxiety and a host of other things, hoping, fearing or otherwise anticipating what might be further ahead. I argue for researching forward and for a new mode of futures-focused scholarship capable of doing so. I propose that we need to both have big visions and attend to the realities of life, emergence and change in the sites of the everyday.
