ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the next four chapters that detail a sampling—but only a sampling—of the analytical techniques used to form the more complex opinions offered in litigation. The chapter suggests that it will be important for the forestry expert to initially have a clear understanding of the causes of action on which the attorneys are basing their cases.
