ABSTRACT

In the first part of this chapter, ‘system’ is defined and explained with examples. The notions related to it are further mentioned and described at two different levels of organizational and interorganizational for each of which explications are provided. Using a complex adaptive systems perspective, the organizational level is delineated starting from individuals, followed by the description of individuals as agents, then schemata as the cognitive structures of them, and this section ends with explanations regarding their behavior. As for the interorganizational level, various economic agglomerations are discussed, including the well-known concepts of clusters, networks, districts, along with the less famous economic agglomerations under the topic of other economic agglomerations.
