ABSTRACT
In the year 2020 Donald Trump has taken over the Republican Party of the United States, putting the United States on the verge of becoming an autocracy and forcing minority rule on an unwilling majority. Donald Trump's delusions of omnipotence are being shared by millions of his followers, creating “the cult of Trump.” The psychoanalytic concept of the malignant narcissist provides an explanatory framework for understanding how Trump's authoritarianism has been so successful.
