ABSTRACT

This chapter sets the foundation by defining unit production stills photography for readers who may not be familiar with this photography niche and career option in entertainment production. It briefly introduces readers to the kinds of production stills unit photographers strive to shoot, such as scene coverage and behind the scenes photos, when working on film and television sets for marketing and publicity purposes, and the kinds of photos these photographers take for the production itself, such as prop stills and tests. This chapter also describes why clients prefer to use unit photographers to capture images assets as opposed to using frame grabs from motion cameras.
