ABSTRACT

Entrepreneurship invariably involves altering the status quo in ways with potentially negative as well as positive ramifications. This chapter deals with the realities, especially when the fruits of entrepreneurship might impact some groups in negative or hurtful ways while benefiting others. Three considerations that need to be acknowledged in this regard are adaption, mitigation, and quality of life. Entrepreneurship can be viewed as a form of adaption because it helps people respond by introducing new ways of thinking, acting, and responding. In a variety of ways, consultants and specialists have encouraged a new breed of entrepreneurs to step up and remake developing regions in a more industrialized and efficient manner. Many entrepreneurs become myopic because they are so involved with the pet project being pursued that they fail to see its possible limitations or shortcomings. Entrepreneurship involves creating changes that are intended to improve the quality of life of a person, group, or humanity, in general.
