ABSTRACT

A resident survey is an effective way to gather this data, and it functions as a needs assessment. A sample survey is offered as the Resident Survey/Needs Assessment. In some instances, a survey may not be the best way to connect with residents, especially if people are responding to a specific incident or situation. In those cases, small group interviews, focus groups, or individual conversations are methods of gathering information that is more personal. Many residents are generally satisfied with their city but are not frequently engaged with what is offered, so they may not be able to provide much feedback on city programs. It is equally important to find out more information from those residents about why they do not participate and determine what is needed so they will increase their participation. People with autism want to experience life. Gardens require sun, water, weeding, pruning, planning, and care.
