A defunct EPRDF, the emergence of the Prosperity Party, and the fall of the TPLF

This chapter discusses what transpired in Ethiopian politics from 2015 to 2020. During these tumultuous but most consequential five years, popular protests among Ethiopians coupled with an internal revolt by the elite within the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front led to a political change that emerged in 2018. Hence, among other things, the chapter presents the political reforms that were enacted, the challenges the country has been facing, the emergence of the new political incumbent, the Prosperity Party, and what happened to the Tigray People’s Liberation Front that led to its demise. Moreover, by analysing the political challenges the country is going through, the chapter also indicates what should be done moving forward.
