ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the goal of the book, which is to learn what and how seven legendary professors teach future business leaders. Each professor represents one of the seven areas that are essential for business success: accounting, business law, finance, management, marketing, operations, and strategy. Profiles of the professors give an insider’s perspective on their personal and professional lives, and illustrate how they prepare for teaching, build a learning community, emphasize the big picture, simplify their subject matter, and make the learning interactive. The lessons from this book provide a game plan for (1) leaders, who want to teach employees about company goals and instill in them the motivation necessary to achieve the goals, and (2) teachers and doctoral students who want to develop and improve their teaching skills. This book is also useful to anyone interested in applying to a business school or in starting and managing a business because it covers the seven essential areas that form the foundation for business success.
