ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the aftermath of COVID-19 in Italy from both an individual and a collective perspective. The individual perspective analyses what visions of the future our interviewees have developed during the first lockdown stage. The collective perspective considers our respondents’ opinions and trust, generated by the work of political and health institutions. The chapter will focus on the perceived strengths and weaknesses in the management of the pandemic. This analysis will be synthesized into a series of policy suggestions and recommendations that politicians may implement to improve people’s resilience by offering them solutions that provide a glimpse of a future after the crisis. The last section of the chapter discusses some theoretical and epistemological reflections on the future of social research after the COVID-19 crisis.
