ABSTRACT
In 1594, in answer to an inquiry, the practice of the Sandwich, and by implication Norwich, Maidstone, Canterbury, Colchester and other bay manufacturers, was in this regard praised to the skies. No less than four seals were attached to such cloths by the makers themselves and impressions made on them by twelve duly appointed viewers.
