ABSTRACT

This section of modules or learning plans relates to the benefits of healthy and balanced routines for daily occupation related to self-care, productivity and leisure. Routines provide coping strategies for managing stress by reducing change and instilling health habits. These strategies keep us physically and mentally prepared to manage stress. Topics include sleep hygiene, medication compliance, forming health habits and simplification of meals. Training occurs in groups but can be adapted for individual use. Training follows the adult learning model and is collaborative. Clients complete handouts to demonstrate learning and are encouraged to apply the learning to personal and meaningful health actions as part of regular daily occupation. Clients are empowered to manage their mental health through prioritizing health and safety choices that fit their needs.
