ABSTRACT

Poor lighting is often overlooked in the classroom setting yet it can lead to headaches, tiredness, eye strain, stress and anxiety. Lack of natural light and the use of poor artificial light can contribute to the effects of conditions such as seasonal affective disorder. Access to natural lighting is also important as well as how comfortably those in the room can see by using lighting to help with tasks. Consider the reduction of glare, the illumination created and the type of light transmitted. As Scandinavian interior design is heavily influenced by nature, they can also combine that with lighting, suspending a branch from the ceiling and covering it in wire fairy lights or adding herbs and fairy lights into a mason jar for a warm glow and placing it on a windowsill. The children love light play, making nature candles, sharing their highs and lows of their day and being outside.
