ABSTRACT

Africa is changing fast and is reinventing itself along the way. In a fast-moving and often uncertain world, the continent is currently facing major challenges that will be decisive for its future. These challenges are diverse and complex (impacts of climate change, pressures on biodiversity, protecting human capital, governance issues, reinforcing social cohesion, etc.) and manifest themselves in a specific manner on the continent. Across the African continent, inventive and innovative responses to these local and global challenges are appearing. Stakeholders on the continent are seeking solutions beyond their own borders and imagining responses that can take account of the characteristics of Africa. This section of the Atlas therefore proposes some possible solutions to these key challenges that have been deciphered here, through just a few examples of the resources Africa has at its disposal to prepare for the future.
