ABSTRACT

Depending upon which discipline we are studying, we will be expected to write in a variety of genres. A problem lots of students seem to encounter, irrespective of whether they have dyslexia or not, is difficulty in accurately decoding the question/assignment task. Writer’s block is something that can affect all writers, professional or otherwise, dyslexic or non-dyslexic. Writer’s block often affects students with dyslexia, not because of any lack of ideas/creativity, but owing to difficulties translating those ideas into a structured essay. Domestic violence is a major problem in the UK, if not globally, and its prevalence is far from decreasing. Students often write thesis statements that are far too long and descriptive. One way of keeping our thoughts on track and thus structure our essay in a logical, sequential manner is to use the Christmas Cracker template.
