ABSTRACT

Charlotte Papendiek’s Memoirs end in 1792, and comparatively few subsequent records of her family survive. This chapter describes some of the family’s activities after 1792 in approximate chronological order. On 29 November 1793 Charlotte Papendiek’s sister Sophia Albert was appointed wardrobe maid to Princess Mary and held this position until 19 December 1801. Frederick Henry Papendiek matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford, on 8 February 1803. Queen Charlotte demonstrated her care for the Albert family in her 30 October 1794 letter to the Prince of Wales regarding Frederick Albert’s brother Lewis and his children. On 20 December 1797 Christopher Papendiek’s glee ‘The King, God bless him! fill your glasses’ was sung at Covent Garden Theatre as a part of a theatrical performance attended by George III and Queen Charlotte.
