ABSTRACT

The following chapter concludes the current author's inquiry into the brown-red cocktail of the Russo-Ukrainian war between 2014 and early 2022. It has a twofold purpose: (a) summarizes the current author's main findings related to the presence of the brown, red and brown-red fighters in this conflict, and (b) presents a set of observations which, in the view of the current author, could offer an interesting future departure point for scholars studying foreign terrorist fighters or other foreign fighters in different wars. Both points can be read and regarded separately but it must be remembered that the latter is in fact a result of the author's thematic analysis of the earlier chapters of this monograph. These have been re-read and the author has noted the emergence of certain patterns within his narrative. As will be shown below, the patterns or, in effect, thematic areas of his inquiry, should look familiar to other authors studying foreign fighters in general and foreign terrorist fighters in particular. It is the current author's hope that distilling his findings to a set of a concise points will offer at least a basis for future comparative studies in the burgeoning field of inquiry.
