ABSTRACT

In recent years there has been an increased interest in how technology can be used in the community, as part of the response to those who have committed offences. This is most notable in discussions regarding the operation of Electronic Monitoring and how that might be used in control, monitoring and surveillance. The prevalence of social media and of the online availability of personal data also has an impact on those who have committed offences and are seeking to rebuild their lives. This chapter deals with all of these issues and discusses how community justice values might be integrated into the use of technology.
