ABSTRACT

Community Justice exists within the context of the criminal justice system and the work is carried out within statutory and non-governmental agencies. This chapter will set out this organisational context, both within Australia and elsewhere. It will include a discussion of organisational culture and dynamics and a consideration of the nature of the work, including its emotional demands. The chapter will also set out what, if any, qualifications are required for work in community justice with either young people or adults across the states and territories of Australia.
