ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on employee perceptions of their company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) and explains the process through which these perceptions may boost employee entrepreneurial activities. In short, working for a socially responsible company that contributes towards the greater good gives employees a sense of the purpose and meaningfulness to their work. Perceived CSR also has a relational dimension and enhances employee relationships with both the company and peers. As a result, CSR also contributes to employee commitment and work engagement. Experienced meaningfulness, positive relationships at work, commitment, and work engagement make employees feel confident in their generative competences and encourage them to engage in solving problems creatively. All the aforementioned outcomes of CSR are thus able to play a mediating role between corporate social performance and intrapreneurship.
