ABSTRACT
Global crises, especially climate change, and the social dynamics of the movement for climate action present new frameworks within which museums must position themselves. Can the concept of sustainability – now over 30 years old – provide a basis for how museums should respond? What might sustainability mean for museums? This chapter positions museums within these new global dynamics and relates it to the rich discourse on sustainability.
