ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on three key aspects, approaches and measures for the transformation of the museum sector. How can museums act as multipliers? How can they exploit their specific potential for social change? The chapter develops, from a cross-sectional perspective, different approaches that can be effective as leverages for the transformation of the museum sector. This chapter focuses on non-neutrality and the politisation of museums, climate footprinting and decarbonisation as well as inclusion and behavioural change through museums visits.
