ABSTRACT

Sustainability as a guiding principle calls for radical change in museums. Such a reorientation includes both strategic decision-making and aspects of working culture. What is the role of management here? What impact do management style and human resources policy have? In what follows, the top-down impetus required for change is integrated into the social relations in the museum and on site by means of a governance approach. This chapter underlines the importance of leadership for the transformation of the museum. It looks at logic models and social impact monitoring as well as aspects of transformational leadership and New Work.
