ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how to perform a clinical interview in the context of the neuropsychological assessment (See timeline, Figure 1.2). For settings implying a direct interaction with a neuropsychologist (A, and B See Chapter 2), this chapter provides advice on how to perform an interview collecting information about the examinee's verbal communication abilities, including their fluency and errors. For settings involving interactions with the neuropsychologist (A, B if via video call) advice on how to collect information on non-verbal communication abilities is also presented. For settings A, the chapter also provides guidance on how to perform an interview with an examinee's carer, in order to collect further evidence since caregivers typically know examinees from a more ecological perspective.

For remote setting C, with self-administration, the interview is not carried out, and it is typically conducted in previous meetings with different settings (either A or B).
