ABSTRACT

This chapter gives an overview of textual places in Morrison’s novels. Starting with an overarching account of geographical settings in each of her novels, the chapter then gives insights into the crafting and forming of selected moments of written place, taken from throughout her oeuvre. Focusing on how they are formed through acts of drafting and crafting, the chapter elucidates the presence and significance of Morrison’s literary places at the same time as it shows, by illustration, what writing of place means in this book.
