ABSTRACT
The women in these films inhabit a world that is largely male-centric. The protagonists who move the action in these narratives are all men, which leaves the women at the periphery, seeming rather as embellishments. However, even though they may not be active enough to drive the narrative they nevertheless act as registers upon which male effectiveness is measured.
