ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the climactic turning point of China’s #MeToo movement as it placed both anti-establishment journalists, public intellectuals, and an establishment media celebrity in the eye of the storm. It analyzes how the moral backbone of Chinese intellectuals (including producers of knowledge in academia, publishing, journalism, literature, and the arts) was unable to bear the weight of its professed progressive ideals.
