ABSTRACT
This chapter summarises the overall body of knowledge in the field of CME research and identifies limitations and weaknesses. It evaluates the methodological approaches adopted thus far and their suitability to best understand the characteristics and operation of the CME as a business model. The implications for this research on academic knowledge, managerial practice, and government policy are discussed, and final recommendations for future research, policy, and practice are made.
