ABSTRACT
Three examples of the implementation of the method of multiple hypotheses are presented. In each case, plausible alternative hypotheses for a given phenomenon were identified. Data relevant to all the proposed hypotheses were also obtained. The authors then tentatively accepted some hypotheses rather than other hypotheses because the obtained data were in agreement with the accepted hypotheses and were not nearly in as good agreement with the alternative hypotheses.
