ABSTRACT

The method of multiple hypotheses is justified because it is arguably the best method for conducting science. In turn, science is justified because (a) science is based on sense data and our senses have evolved to well comprehend the world, (b) science has proven itself by its apparent successes, (c) the methods of science make knowledge acquisition self-correcting, and (d) science has developed to cope with its inevitable imperfections and the limitations of human understanding.
