ABSTRACT

With a view to exploring how partnership may evolve going forwards, this chapter looks at the current collaborative landscape and examines some of the many emerging initiatives and trends involving multiple stakeholders. An overview is provided of arrangements such as clusters, hubs and communities of practice, multi-stakeholder dialogues, consortia, platforms and co-movements such as co-creation, co-production and co-construction. This is followed by an analysis of the transformational potential of these efforts with reflection on the nature of their stakeholder participation and facilitation processes, and the attention given to systemic issues. The chapter concludes by suggesting that there is evidence of a movement towards the integration of more reflective facets in these initiatives which, when linked to the reality and complexity of specific contexts, indicates that multi-actor collaboration can promote transformational change.
