ABSTRACT
Drawing from relevant literature, this chapter offers a series of reflections on partnership, sustainability and citizenship and the connections between them. The concept of global citizenship and a “duty to care” is positioned as central to collective endeavours to ensure human well-being and stewardship of the planet. To achieve this, transformational partnership efforts that challenge “business as usual” approaches are called for with arrangements that better balance pragmatic and reflective elements of collaboration. Emphasis is placed upon promoting nexus approaches for sustainability that cut across different domains and levels; an overarching partnership “metagovernance” that facilitates as well as steers and deliberative decision-making processes that embrace diversity.
