ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book seeks to refresh standard views of partnership and its potential for transformation in several ways: first, by endorsing a stronger blending of academic and practitioner perspectives; second, by encouraging a deeper exploration of how partnership is understood and implemented in context; and third, by transcending traditional categorisations, particularly those that link partnership exclusively to collaboration with the private sector and a capitalist development model. More robust and inventive ways of capturing partnership stories and experiences in different contexts are central to ensuring a deeper appreciation of the transformational prospects for partnership. Drawing upon and learning more deeply from the wisdom of both the distant and recent past can do much to stimulate a more profound reflection on the promise of partnership.
