ABSTRACT

This chapter explores why we assess, definitions of common terms related to assessments and virtual teaching, and basic considerations for creating a virtual assessment plan. It also discusses how and when to use “traditional” assessments (i.e., tests and quizzes) in the virtual classroom. It gives suggestions for creating the assessments, grading them, and using them and their results effectively. It includes a case study example, a professional development plan, and a comparison feature chart for some current platforms that use this strategy.
