ABSTRACT

The chapter focuses on discussing the broadly understood objectives of family businesses affecting the management of these entities. It begins with the presentation of the definition of the concept of “an objective” and brief specification of general objectives of the operation of family businesses, belonging to both economic and non-economic categories. Subsequently, the chapter presents the impact of objectives established by family businesses on the management of these entities, particularly the objective related to preserving socioeconomic wealth. The chapter ends with considerations on succession being an example of a fundamental and specific aspiration of family businesses the correct and efficient implementation of which is at the same time one of the most serious challenges faced by family businesses.
