ABSTRACT
In a mostly theoretical chapter, the author takes a deep dive into the notion of belief as relevant to REBT. Rationality is debated and defined (imperfectly), and the evolutionary relevance of irrational and rational beliefs is discussed. The author also details the ways in which society helps humans to hold onto irrationality, and why irrational beliefs may propagate and persist.
