ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the reader to the R and RStudio environments. It guides the reader through the process of downloading and installing R and RStudio, provides an overview of the RStudio environment, introduces basic arithmetic operations, and builds hands-on familiarity with object-oriented programming and industry-standard style considerations. This chapter also guides the reader in setting up working directories and saving data to disk for later use.
